Thompsons says it will undertake background and ongoing extensive environmental monitoring, remove all asbestos materials and then dismantle the redundant plant, which used to manufacture specialty fibres and polymers.
To ensure Bluestar’s ongoing processes are not impeded, parts of the live plant areas have been structurally strengthened by BSF in co-operation with Thompsons, prior to separation works commencing.
The project is set to complete in December, but Thompsons says it has also now secured the work for Phase 3.
