Supplier credibility
Published: 07 August, 2007
A recent report by Trading Standards concluded that credibility is the single most important issue for customers when choosing a firm to supply products or services. This is backed up by the findings that 53% of all choices were for businesses that customers already knew or had been recommended by someone they trust.
BCAS has developed a new BCAS Member Code of Conduct as part of an initiative to demonstrate customer satisfaction and code compliance to enhance their reputation, provide tangible differentiation and increase the brand value of BCAS. All BCAS members from 1st July comply with the Code of Conduct. It promotes a minimum requirement in ethical business practices, best practice in design, selection, supply, installation, service and maintenance of both compressed air and vacuum related products and services. BCAS members will be committed to Quality Management Systems and the continuous staff training in their business.
Just as Which? magazine promotes products and Amazon and eBay promote sellers, on the basis of their reputation as experienced by their customers, and empowering consumers to make more informed choices, trade associations are ideally placed to do the same. Hence BCAS have taken the initiative to work with an independent third party that manages a Trusted Trader Scheme to develop what will be the first of its kind for the UK compressed air and vacuum market.
The BCAS Trusted Trader Scheme complements the Code of Conduct to promote the credibility and professionalism of BCAS members as rated by their customers. The advantages to all compressed air and vacuum users of using a BCAS member will be the reassurance that they have been endorsed by others users.
