Manufacturing diversity on show
Published:  02 January, 2018

Southern Manufacturing & Electronics returns to Farnborough from February 6-8th 2018 for its 20th anniversary event. PWE reports.

For 2018, the show follows its established format, with the event space shared roughly equally between electronics and manufacturing production, and encompassing hardware, engineering services, components and consumables among its diverse portfolio of exhibiting firms. An estimated 800 firms are expected to participate. While the majority are UK-based, there is a strong and growing contingent of overseas firms now regularly appearing at Southern, which greatly increases the scope of the event to include products and services not normally encountered at a domestic show.

The show features live machinery demonstration from numerous well-known vendors, among them Yamazaki Mazak, Matsuura, Unison, Bystronic, C. Duggard, XYZ Machine Tools and others. Components and sub-assemblies are also a big part of the show - Kabelschepp Metool will be highlighting its recently launched Master drag chains, the LE0 and LE80, designed to meet the demands of Industry 4.0 applications. Other notable names returning for 2018 include Igus, HepcoMotion, Heidenhain, Hitaltech, Davell Gears and IEC. In addition plant equipment is another well-represented aspect of the event. Alongside a range of compressors and vacuum pumps, compressed air specialists BCAS, will be demonstrating the benefits of creating nitrogen in-house. Nitrogen generators allow users to produce a reliable, secure and safe source of nitrogen from an existing compressed air supply, thereby making significant cost savings.
