End terminations identification – part 2

This is part of a series of articles based on guidance provided in the British Fluid Power Association’s newly introduced training course titled ‘Small Bore Tubing Integrity Course – using twin ferrule compression fittings’. This month, we present part 2 of guidance regarding end termination identification.

Main characteristics and geometry

Unified parallel thread form – thread flank angle 60 degrees.

JIC 37 degrees (74 degree inclusive) angle NOT TO BE CONFUSED with the SAE J512 45 degree (90 degree inclusive) angle.

How it seals

Sealing is assured through contact of the mating male and female cones.

Main characteristics and geometry

Metric parallel thread form – thread flank angle 60 degrees.

SAE J2244 & BS EN ISO 6149 are fully interchangeable.

How it seals

Sealing is assured at the top of the female port through compression of the ‘o’ ring.
