Robot family extended
Published:  08 August, 2014

ABB_14409320257_1e3c066481.jpgABB reports it has expanded its family of small robots with the addition of the IRB 1200. Featuring a compact design, the IRB1200 is primarily aimed at materials handling and machine tending applications demanding flexibility, ease of use, compactness and short cycle times while still maintaining large working envelopes.

As a complete solution, ABB says the IRB 1200 excels in situations that require a compact package without sacrificing working range or functionality - with no offset in axis two, it can achieve a longer stroke than other robots, enabling it to be placed very close to the work piece and still be functional.

ABB says one particular benefit of this long stroke is that it allows for a much more compact installation when the robot is mounted on the ceiling inside a small cell, such as in electronics machining.
