The hunt is on to find Britain’s best manufacturers

Published:  05 June, 2014

The hunt to find Britain’s best manufacturers has started. EEF, the manufacturers’ organisation and Aldermore have launched the 6th annual Future Manufacturing Awards, designed to find the best of British manufacturing.

The competition is free, easy to enter and gives companies across the UK an opportunity to be recognised as industry champions.

The competition is open to all manufacturers and supply chain businesses, regardless of size. Both small and large businesses have been previous award winners so all business owners are being urged to take part.

There are seven different categories to enter, including: success in strategic growth, smart products, health and safety initiatives, investment in skills and training, operational excellence, reducing environmental impact and exporting. Entries will be judged regionally, with winners going on to compete for national awards. One company will go on to be crowned EEF/Aldermore’s ‘Winner of Winners’.

The awards also celebrate the contribution made by Britain’s army of manufacturing apprentices. Companies are being urged to nominate their most outstanding apprentices – this will also help to raise awareness of the many opportunities available through apprenticeships today.

Terry Scuoler, CEO of EEF, says: “Manufacturers have a great story to tell and these awards give them the opportunity to demonstrate what they do so well. Collectively, our sector is a powerhouse driving the economic recovery, employing 2.6 million people and accounting for 11% of GDP. However, these awards look behind the facts and figures and showcase the talented, hard-working individuals who are behind Make it Britain.”

Mark Stephens, Deputy CEO and group commercial director of Aldermore, says: “These awards are about recognising the talent, skills and contribution being made every day by British manufacturers and apprentices. This sector is dynamic, creative, industrious and versatile, but it doesn’t get the recognition it really deserves. Aldermore is delighted to be joining forces with EEF again to ensure that manufacturers are seen as the champions they truly are.”

Entries to the awards should be made before the 3rd October, 2014. To enter or to find out more visit: www.eef.org.uk/awards/ .
