Aimed at businesses wanting to manage their energy consumption more effectively, the free-to-attend event showcases the latest technologies, products and services, from over 150 of the sector’s leading companies. Working with key partner, the Major Energy Users’ Council (MEUC), the Exhibition also includes a free two-day conference featuring curated seminars delivered by high profile industry and Government experts.
Exhibitors
Exhibitors at the Energy Event come from across the sector, from major energy suppliers and accreditation services, to consultants and product manufacturers. They will all be available on site to offer hands-on advice, as well as showcase the best products to deliver energy management, efficiency and procurement solutions.
A range of companies will be exhibiting at the show for the first time this year, including Innergy Group, who provide biomass and waste power heating solutions and Thermal Energy International who focus on recapturing and recycling waste energy from boiler plant and steam systems. ¬
Visitors looking to learn more about the latest developments in Building Energy Management will find energy optimisation tools on show from Tempcon, Gemini Data, Lucy Switchgear, Tridium and Curu. Energy suppliers returning this year include npower, Dong Energy, Corona Energy, Eneco, GDF Suez and Smartest Energy.
Lighting is taking a strong focus at this year’s show, with leading manufacturers such as Thorlux, Tamlite Lighting, Trac Lighting & Controls and Contrac Lighting all present. Also Phillips Lighting, whose LED products illuminate the Notre-Dam de Paris and 70% of the streetlights in Buenos Aires, will be exhibiting for the first time.
British Independent Utilities (BIU) is the Headline Sponsor at the event and they will again bring their impressive two-tier stand to the exhibition arena. Ben Coburn, sales and marketing director, will also be speaking in the Energy Leaders’ Theatre discussing transparency within the energy market.

Conference programme
This year’s conference features more than 80 industry leaders and policy makers speaking at the free, two-day programme of CPD-accredited seminars. Addressing all of the topical energy challenges facing commercial, industrial and public sector organisations, the conference features a range of case studies offering first hand experience, as well as seminars exploring issues like the Electricity Market Reform, carbon legislation, fracking and how to improve you bottom line through energy efficiency.
The Energy Information Theatre
The Energy Information Theatre showcases energy management success stories from across the public and private sectors, offering knowledge, critical insight and case studies from industry leaders.
For anyone still looking to get to grips with the upcoming Energy Saving Opportunity Scheme (ESOS), this year’s opening keynote address from Dr Philip Douglas from the Department for Energy and Climate Change will feature a comprehensive overview. Looking at “The Energy Saving Opportunity Scheme: Context and implications for energy managers”, Dr Douglas’ talk is designed to help visitors plan their organisation’s compliance with ESOS energy efficiency audits.
Industry leaders will also share their first hand experience and advice, including Andrew Robertson, head of site planning at Bentley Motors, who will deliver a session titled “Bentley Motors Environmental strategy”. Other insightful case studies include Paul Crewe, head of engineering, sustainability, energy and environment for Sainsbury's, who will explore the supermarket giant’s energy efficiency strategy and how it has reduced their energy consumption and carbon.
The Energy Leaders’ Conference
The Energy Leaders’ Conference explores the sector’s big challenges and debates the opportunities presented in the major reforms facing the industry. These include demand side mandatory code for energy efficiencies in buildings, the impact of Electricity Market Reform on business, energy reduction versus carbon reduction and its benefits, and countering the business risk of energy interruption.
Delivering one of the show’s headline discussions is Dieter Helm, professor of energy policy at the University of Oxford. One of the country’s most distinguished economists, specialising in utilities, infrastructure, regulation and the environment, with a core research focus on Europe’s energy, water, communications and transport, he will be talking on how to survive in our chaotic energy world.
Also appearing is Paul Gardiner, energy advocacy manager for British Sugar, who will be considering the impact of European legislation and discussing whether it is helping or harming business. The session will explore the EU Emissions Trading Scheme and the ‘cap and trade’ system integrated in Europe, and consider how effective these strategies have been for lowering carbon emissions, and ensuring affordable energy prices and security of supply.
Upcoming legislation is a strong theme running throughout a number of the seminars, with several talks designed to help visitors keep up to speed with changing regulations. A panel session titled “Delivering the next generation: How legislation really translates in practice” will discuss how current and forthcoming policy and legislation will affect the delivery of the next wave of much needed energy generation. Panelist will include Jonathan Leary, assistant solicitor, Zyda Law, Leander Clarke, director of the PPS Group and Niall Trimble, managing director of The Energy Contract Company.
There will also be a range of panel discussions taking place at this year’s show, including “Tools for encouraging behaviour change – engaging your staff to reduce consumption and cost”. This session invites participants from the MEUC Behavioural Change Programme to share their experiences on engaging staff to reduce energy consumption and cost. Seminar participants include Amandeep Mann, environmental management coordinator, Anchor Housing, John Leonard, energy manager for Wessex Water and John Mullholland, founder of Mullholland Energy Solutions and director of MEUC’s Saving Energy Through People Behaviour Change Programme.
Other co-located environment events
The Energy Event will again be co-located with The Renewables Event, The Water Event and RWM in partnership with CIWM (covering resource efficiency and waste management).
