First aid – a matter of life or death

Every year in the UK, thousands of people die in situations where basic first aid could have saved their lives. A survey carried out in 2012 by St John’s Ambulance revealed that only 18 % of people know basic first aid, yet all businesses are required by law to provide the appropriate first-aid arrangements, including the provision of trained first aiders.

New gloves range

ARCO says the UK is currently the 11th largest manufacturing nation in the world; with manufacturing making up 54% of UK exports and directly employing 2.6 million people. With UK manufacturing remaining a key industrial sector and precision assembly increasingly required, the company says it is important that hands are suitably protected.

THOMAS AND BETTS says its new DTS range of XFP Ex de tubular LED fittings has been approved for use within hazardous areas Zones 1, 2, 21 and 22. Featuring automatic switch-off upon opening for safety and maintenance, the range is reported to be ATEX compliant and approved to EN60079-0,60079 -1 and 60079-7.
