Red Cross gets a lift

Published:  12 September, 2007

When the floods hit the Gloucestershire region, devastating houses and leaving residents with no access to clean drinking water, the Red Cross found themselves with their own problem - no means of transporting the thousands of bottles of water they had to distribute to local communities.

Hearing of the situation, Toyota Handling, the Toyota forklift distributor, provided the charity with a forklift that was used to manoeuvre deliveries, load aid trucks and ensure that those who most needed provisions received them.

Paul Freeman, managing director at Toyota Handling said: "We were only too aware of the devastation that was caused when the floods hit. When we heard about the trouble the Red Cross was having we felt that it was one way we could contribute and at least provide a means of support to those who needed it.
Five thousand bottles of water were delivered to homes across Gloucestershire.
